Minsden Chapel is said to be haunted by several entities these include, "the sounds of sweet and plaintive music", a figure in White, a ghostly monk, there is also a legend of a Nun murdered and the ringing of the lost bells of Minsden which in turn caused the ghostly monk to disappear. Other investigators claim to have heard the faint sound of distant music and reported seeing the glow of a cross on a wall. Shadowy figures and strange animal reactions.
All hallows eve, is thought to be the best night for this location, though I have been there on a few occasions at this night and never witnessed anything unusuall. We used to lived only 15 miles from here and on several occasions went to investigate, the first time we went to Minsden we were evicted by a man and his Doberman, it should also be noted that there is a public right of way past this site so don't take much notice of any idiot farmers, (at this point we didn't know about the right of way). We then left this site and continued on to Clophill.
Minsden Chapel is situated just south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Heading out of Hitchin on the B656 towards Welwyn, turn right on the B651 to St Pauls Walden. Follow this road down about quarter of a mile, you will see a small wooded area on a slight hill to your right. Minsden Chapel is in this wooded area.
This haunting, ghost was first documented by Reginald Hine, who had leased the chapel for his lifetime. The Chapel was built in the fourteenth century, 'Hine' was a respected solicitor, he also wrote a book called "Confessions of an Un-common Attorney". His ashes would be scattered at Minsden upon his death, Within his writings he published a warning that "I will pursue any trespassers or sacrilegious person in death as a ghost as i did while I was alive".
